Mamas and Papas biography
Beginning with the Mamas and Papas biography, they were not really Mamas and Papas at all. It was said, they got their name from the Hells Angels, as the girls of the hells Angels were called mamas by the bikers and the word papas, followed after the mamas and papas were making jokes about each other. The group was composed of four people, John Phillips, Holly Michelle Gilliam, Denny Doherty and Cass Elliot. "California Dreamin" and "Monday, Monday" were enormous hits in America in the sixties and they were sung by the Mamas and the Papas. John phillips was the writer for the group and was married to Michelle Gilliam. He wrote the hit song, "If Your Going To California Don't Forget To Wear Some Flowers In Your Hair". Denny Doherty was from Canada, and had been a member of the Halifax Three. Continuing with the Mamas and Papas biography, in June 1965, they went to see John Lennon and Paul McCartney of
The Beatles
in their residence off Montague Square, which was formerly Mick Jagger's abode. They sang and talked about many singers such as Donovan and
Bob Dylan.
Cass Elliot had her own television special in 1969. She also appeared on the
Ed Suillivan Show.
