Ike Turner biography, helped lay the ground work for Rock and Roll


In Ike Turner biography, he was born November 5, 1931 in Clarksdale, Mississippi.

His father was killed in a fight with white people in the Town where he grew up.

His musical career began with his piano teacher, Pinetop Perkins, who taught him the boogie woogie which he later transformed into early Rock and Roll.

He helped to lay the groundwork for Rock and Roll.

He made the recording of "Rocket 88" in 1949, which was one of the first examples of Rock And Roll. The Record was released under the name of Jackie Brenston and his Delta Cats but was made by Ike Turner and his "Kings of Rhythm".

In 1955 he moved the "Kings of Rhythm" to East Street, St Louis where he met Tina Turner.

In 1956, Tina joined the group and moved in with Ike Turner, they had a child and got married in 1959.

Continuing with Ike Turner biography, in 1959 they released the hit single titled, "A Fool In Love" for Sue Records.

In the early Sixties they put out many hit songs together such as, "It's Gonna Work out Find, I Idolize You, Poor Fool" and "Tra La La La".

In 1962, Ike got married with Tina Turner in Tijuana, Mexico.

In 1970 and 1971, they released songs such as, "Proud Mary, Come Together", and "I Want to Take You Higher".

Tina accused him of violent abuse and they were divorced in March of 1978.

Ike and Tina were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 1991.

Continuing with Ike Turner biography, he is also know for introducing the classic soul music show with the Ike and Tina Turner Revue, featuring a full band with Tina Turner and the Iikettes.

He was married to Tina for eighteen years.

In 2001 Tina Turner released an album entitled, "Here And Now" which was nominated for many awards.

Beginning in 2004, he is going to the High Schools and telling the students to stay in School, get a good education, stay off Drugs and to follow your dreams and respect yourself.
